ANDRES PALACIOS
Abstract Landscapes and Reflective Portraiture
Andres Palacios was born in Yacuiba, a small border town in Bolivia. His childhood was intimately connected with Bolivian rural life and nature. The environment where he spent his childhood became the nostalgic element constantly present in his abstract work.
In his creative process, Palacios embraces melancholy and nostalgia as instruments for contemplation and personal exploration. His paintings are an open invitation to walk through intimate worlds that belong only to the observer. Therefore, the artist considers his abstract landscapes partial spaces that only come to fruition when they are contemplated and discovered.
Palacios began his career as a self-taught abstract painter, later he studied figurative painting at the renowned Art Students League in New York City. His work has been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the headquarters of the United Nations, and the New York Public Library, among other institutions and cultural spaces. His work has been acquired by various collectors in the United States, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Israel, Ireland, Bolivia, and Egypt.
